Congratulations from HM The Queen proves crowning glory for Steelite International
25 July 2013
It was a right royal day to remember on Tuesday (July 23rd) for Steelite International Chief Executive Kevin Oakes and Finance Director Richard Poole when they were invited to Buckingham Palace to meet HM Queen Elizabeth II.
The company’s directors were guests at a special reception at the Royal residence to receive official recognition from the Monarch who congratulated them for securing their first Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
Kevin and Richard were introduced to Her Majesty at an evening champagne reception at the Palace and also mingled with a whole host of royals at the event including HRH Prince Andrew and daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and HRH Prince Edward.
Steelite International received news of the prestigious business award back in April when the company’s outstanding success in overseas markets was recognised.
Steelite International makes and supplies tabletop ranges for the international hospitality industry and this year achieved annual sales of £70 million, with 85 per cent of those coming from export markets.
Kevin Oakes, Chief Executive of Steelite International, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to be invited to Buckingham Palace and to be congratulated personally by the Queen. It was an occasion we will both cherish, and one which makes the company’s 30th anniversary even more special.
“The award is testament to Steelite International’s amazing teams both here and abroad whose talent and commitment have put this company at the forefront of the international hospitality industry.
“We are proud to produce in England and proud to export our ware to more than 130 countries right across the globe.”
The official presentation of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise scroll and crystal trophy will take place in October when the Queen’s representative in Staffordshire – Lord Lieutenant Ian Dudson will visit Steelite International’s Orme Street headquarters.
